How might we help visually impaired/blind people get around in unknown and unaccommodating areas?

Angelica, Cheilon, Uriel, Christina

Blind/visually impaired people have daily struggles that interfere with being independent. They have equipment that can be used to get around such as the white cane or a guide dog. It can be frustrating for them to get around new places when their sight is not up to par.

During our visit to the Blind Community Center of San Diego, we were given the experience of being “blind”. During this experience we were guided silently around the facility and then with a detailed description. This allowed us to empathise with their problems and create a unique app and accessory that will ease their struggles.
